Prosecutors investigate Possible Fraud at AIDS Center

Prosecutors are looking into whether employees of the National AIDS Center and the director of a pharmaceutical company that supplied the center committed fraud.
Records show that 500,000 syringes that the center purchased never arrived at the Karaganda and Manguistau branches where they were supposed to be used, senior Almaty prosecutor Azamat Alibekov said.
In addition, he said, prosecutors have discovered that $90,292 worth of HIV testing systems that center records show were sent to southern Kazakhstan never arrived.
Prosecutors are investigating the director of the Azha Pharma company in the syringe case and several National AIDS Center employees In the testing-system case, according to centralasiaonline.com.
