Medvedev tweets Birthday Greetings to Nazarbayev
    By Joanna Lillis
Russian President Dmitri Medvedev not only said “Happy Birthday” to President Nursultan Nazarbayev in person, according to eurasianet.org.
He also conveyed the sentiment on Twitter, partly in Russian and partly in Kazakh.
“Today Nursultan Nazarbayev, a great friend of Russia, is 70 years old. Happy Birthday!” Medvedev messaged Nazarbayev in Russia on July 6. Then he added in Kazakh: “I congratulate you on your celebration!”
Twitter has yet to take off in a big way as a social and media tool in Kazakhstan.
Government officials are, however, eager to keep up with the times. Prime Minister Karim Masimov blogs. He has ordered other government officials to do likewise, with mixed results.
